CNC Programmer

PGI Steel is looking to expand its programming department and has an immediate need for a CNC Programmer at our Birmingham location. The ideal candidate is someone with prior machining and programming experience, who understands how to take a part from the idea stage/solid model/drawing to a finished product. Applicants should have experience with CAD/CAM programs, such as SolidWorks/SolidCAM and GibbsCAM. Five years running a CNC machine is recommended.
Prefer candidates that have a strong understanding of Fanuc controls and the ability to free-hand simple programs at the controls, should the need arise. Experience with premium carbide tools and modern machining strategies such as dynamic milling is preferred. Strong math skills, computer skills, and Microsoft Office are a must. The candidate must have a strong open minded work ethic, organization skills, verbal communication skills, time management and the ability to work with a technical sales team, machinists and customers. Typical parts produced are large plates along with weldments and fabrications. CNC Machinists

We are currently seeking seasoned CNC Machinists for 1st & 2nd shifts to operate a large capacity 3-axis mill with an indexable head. The position requires experience working with a wide variety of steel grades and aluminum. Must have experience holding tolerance ranges from +/- .005 to +/- .0002. Most work is custom and every job is unique. Prior experience creating and editing programs at the controls is required to apply. Applicants should already have a good supply of their own tools. PGI Steel machinists are responsible for machining materials to customer’s specifications via a provided program. All applicants are required to pass a Machinist Aptitude and Math Test. Programming experience in solid models is a plus but not required. Machine Equipment Operator

PGI Steel is looking for our next grinding equipment operator. Prior experience operating Blanchard and/or Mattison style machines is a plus, but not required. We prefer candidates that have backgrounds working in industrial, manufacturing, materials processing, logistics and/or warehousing industries. Applicants with no previous experience are also highly encouraged to apply. PGI Steel’s business was founded on its grinding operations in 1971 and this equipment continues to play an integral role in our daily parts manufacturing. PGI Steel is willing to train the right individual for this stable and rewarding role. Many of our long term sales people and managers started in our Grinding Department. 
The grinding operator is responsible for finishing the materials (steel, metal, composite) to customer specifications. This includes mastering and understanding the principles of thickness, flatness, parallelism, square and surface finish. Candidates possessing attention to detail and a technical mindset will excel in this role.

Shipping & Receiving Clerk

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for packaging all jobs for customer deliveries and pick-ups, as well as LTL shipments. All products are shipped on pallets and must be banded together and wrapped securely. Applicants must be detail oriented and able to follow detailed instructions. As with all positions at PGI Steel, applicants must be neat, organized and able to work in a high paced environment.
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving all material by inspecting, verifying sizes, quantity and quality of all delivered materials or products.
