Since August of 2018, PGI Steel has partnered with 58 INC., Central-Six Alabama Works and the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Lawson State Community College to offer Manufacturing Apprenticeships for the young women and men in our communities. Several of our first apprentices have moved on to having full-time employment at PGI Steel and are making strong contributions to our company.

Today, PGI Steel would like to express our congratulations and appreciation to Brandon Krutsch and Preston Jones III. Both Preston, who was already on the PGI Team and Brandon, a graduate from Thompson High School wanted to continue their education and learn more about the highly skilled trade machining. In June of 2021, both earned their Short Certificates in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) from Lawson State Community College, marking another great at PGI Steel in developing our skilled staff for manufacturing’s future. We are proud of our young apprentices and want to recognize them for their many contributions to our business!

PGI Steel also extends its gratitude to Amanda Owensby (Human Resources), Stanley Crooks (Quality Control Manager), Jeremy Wilson (Machine Shop Manager) and Lee Higginbotham (Vice President of Operations – Oxmoor). Their outstanding contributions to PGI Steel have allowed our Apprenticeship Program to grow into one of our more exciting offerings for young talent. PGI Steel also wishes to express appreciation to Melody Whitten, 58 INC., Kristen Holder, Alabama Office of Apprenticeship, Jackson Pruett, 58 INC., Tommy Hobbs, Lawson State Community College and LaVada Varner, Alabama Technology Network.
